It is the start of a new season for us all at Conwy Marina.
Ian and I have swapped our Jeanneau Merry Fisher 925 for a lovely Sealine SC29 of about the same age and we are looking forward to trying her out.
The new season began with the Conwy Marina Berth Holders Association AGM on Saturday 16th April. It was well attended and matters arising covered a variety of topics.
It was agreed that over the last 12 months the new website, organised by Martin Berman and his team has been a resounding success. The members’ feedback, questions and answer section being a way for committee members to respond and resolve any matters arising as quickly as possible. I am sure, you will all agree with me that the tides and weather information have proved invaluable. Hopefully some of you have enjoyed my Roving Reporter articles and I will be submitting some new stories for this year too.
Membership to the CMBHA has increased dramatically over the last year with approximately half the boats at the marina now represented. A fantastic achievement for all those involved.
Vince Sweeney stepped down as Chairman but remains on the committee and Eric Crowther has now been elected to Chairman.
In the evening, it was the “Start of Season, Supper Dance” held at the Conwy Golf Club. It was absolutely wonderful to be amongst so many old and new friends and the atmosphere was fantastic.
The selection of food on offer included fish and chips, Chicken Korma, Hot Pot and Vegetarian Lasagne – all absolutely delicious. The seating was informal and it meant that you could sit and chat with friends, whilst at the same time meet new acquaintances. Janice and Kate were in charge of the raffle and they were delighted to raise over £300 for Breast Cancer.
There were some great prizes on offer, but it was definitely a night for those with green and yellow tickets, as we pink ticket holders never seemed to get a look in!!
Below are a few pictures of some of the lucky winners. Eric, our new Chairman, presented all of the prizes.
Bouquets were presented to Janice, Patsy and Kate for organising such a brilliant event and our new Chairman Eric made his inaugural speech to resounding applause.
A Personalised LogBook was passed around all the tables for members and guests to sign and was presented to Vince as a thank you for all his fantastic work over the last 12 months.
The evening was rounded off with dancing until late. All in all a very successful and enjoyable evening.
